Hi there, i was doing a water change in my 15 gallon tank with 2 clowns. When i fished cleaning it out i saw a glimpse of what looked like to me a house fly, floating in the current. It looked very much dead and just floated behind a stack of rocks. i cant see it anymore, I've tried looking for it but i cant seem to get to it. I just need your opinions in what to do, should i remove the rocks are try to get it out, what happens if i leave it? Could i have mistaken it for something else? Any replys would be appreciated.

I dunno, that wouldn't be floating in my tank for long...Tell em fish back in the old country wudda been happy to have a fat fly for a meal. :)
Yer i was thinking if they would eat it. I dunno if they could as they are still quite small and the fly was pretty massive.

I wouldn’t stress about it. I certainly wouldn’t be taking rocks out. It will be fine left in the tank.
Yer i didn't wanna be moving rocks really. Thanks for the reply. :)

Check your nutrients as it might make them sky rocket cause of the dead fly....

Just kidding. It will be fine

Summertime with windows open, bright lights, MANY a flying bug has landed in my tank or sump. At worse it's like a little bit of food left in your tank that didn't get eaten. There is not much mass in a fly to break down.

Knew a guy who threw night crawlers in his 220. His angels and triggers loved them. Tug of war was hysterical. Never had a problem with the tank. Nothing but fat, healthy fish.

House fly? How about all the airborne contaminants that drift in you tank all day?

I’m in Wisconsin, there are these lady big things everywhere! Constantly finding them in my tank no worries

I hate those things.

I'm also in WI and my sump is in the basement. I regularly find centipedes floating in it... aaaaag! Gross, evil little worms with a million legs. Makes my skin crawl. But no harm to the tank :)

It will be fine. Nothing to worry about.

It always amazes me with the number of lady bugs I find in my filter socks
