Just wondering what temperature everyone keeps there house at compared to the tank temperature.

I'm in the northeast and we have lows of -2°F coming up in the next few days, and I keep the house at 68-70°F.

During the spring, summer, and fall the house temperature fluctuates a lot more. And on the really hot days the ACs are set to 72°F.

I'm just wondering how hard the tank heaters work based on just trying to keep up with the house temperature.

I ran tests on mine (it's in my build thread ) and found a 68F was fine heaters still are able to cycle off if sized right. Got down to 66F here last night in the house, they still kept heat up and my big emergency backup heater didn't cycle on. I also don't think being "On" wears them out so much as constant rapid cycling.

The tank always runs 76-78°F.

Here in Florida, the house stays 74-76°F during the summer and 70-72°F in wintertime. I like to keep the house a little cooler than the tank so if the A/C goes out, I have a little while to respond before the temperature in the tank begins to climb.
