How aggressive are chalices?

Aggressive !!!!!!! LOL Jk , I don't know if it will kill a toadstool but I bet the toadstoll might not like it. But wait and see what others say

They can very destructive depending in their sweeper length. I put the chalices I like kind by one another because they do no damage to each other. But yes they can strip the flesh off any coral and irritate zoa to the point they won't open. So placement is key.

No problem I have all mine placed by species and sweeper length and have had a chalice war for over a year. Take care

My hollywood stunner would kill most anything in its way but most of my other chalices wont harm anything.

It does all depend on the sub species of the chalice. Some are far more aggressive than others but as a whole you do not want to place them near anything that you don't want to get stung.

I know this is an old thread but I am actually doing searches on this. I have an orange lithophyllon (sp?) I placed about an inch from my very healthy candy cane and now half the candy cane (the half nearest the litho) won’t open and I think I see some white flesh on one of the stalks. I understand the litho is a type of chalice? Anyway, I seperated them further by about another inch or more and wondering if that would be enough or if these things need much more room? As an aside I moved the litho closer to the candy cane because one of my acan lords really did a number to a section of the litho. Now that they are apart the litho is much happier but as I said, the candy cane seems to be paying the price.
