Picking up the tank tomorrow. The facilities department at my school is fully supporting my learning to use power tools endeavor and has loaned me their hole cutter kit. The largest hole is 2.5 inches. I've taped off the areas on the plywood of where NOT to cut due to braces and supports. Picking up the tank tomorrow! Hopefully I can make this work!

I have a tank!

aaannd a problem. It looks like the smaller hole 3/4'' will be directly above the inner horizontal brace... Of course, I'm not 100% sure because my stand is still in the garage and the tank is in the house. What to do. What to do.

I made a good size hole between the 2 supports about 2.5 x 5''

Are you talking about horizontal support being the frame around the outside? Or are you talking about one that is in the center part of the stand?

Unfortunately your trimmed and painted. That piece does nothing for load bearing. It is more for lateral support. You could cut it out where you need and screw another one to the outside of it over the gap. Or just cut out the part in the way. Your plywood on the outside will keep it from racking. The tank is supported by the trim around the outside not the middle.

If you have a kreg jig you could put another one or of the way of you where worried about it

Thats just the discussion I was having. I'll cut thru what is needed and then perhaps splint it. This shall wait for another day though. Its cold out!

Success! I'll put details on how I did it in my build thread. I'm feel good! (But cold...) Can't wait for the floors to be done so I can get moving!
