i buy small frags. if i buy a large coral i will make a couple small frags out of it before i place it in the tank. this way if one of the frags don't make it i will still have others to enjoy. small frags seem to be more forgiving than large colonies IMO.
I agree plus i LOVE watching them grow, thats my favorite part of this hobby. I have a crazy looking acan right now that started as one head now two months later it has 5, same with a alien eye favia, had one head now has 3 1 month later
i got this zoa frag about 1 /12 years ago. now (due to my lack of zoa fragging exper.) it is the size of a baseball. the problem is the zoas have encircled the little frag plug so it is shaper like a baseball.
Faster growers like zoas/palys, sure it's fun to buy smaller and watch.
If you are buying sps/chalice or nice acans and buy tiny... that fun is 2 years off, that's frag tank material for me. For display tank it's at least a mini colony or better.
It depends on what I have available although I have been liking my frags I have been buying lately. I had never had a frag of anything until like 2 weeks ago when I got 3 frags of zoas and one of blastomussa. I do like the larger bits though.
Cool thanks rev! I think that is a good option. I agree with every thou on that aspect, if i can get a colony from some one leaving the hobby im all about it! But i have a one head acan that now has 4 (in 2 months) and same with the favia!
Pretty much any size. Some things I like to get small frags and watch them grow, others I like instant gratification. It depends on my mood when I'm buying.
i voted for small colony but i guess for me it depends on what it is and the price. lol. but usally i like things that are a small colony at least but if its pricey i will go for a frag or smaller piece.
