Hey guys,

Watch this first:
I have a question. I have visited the Tennessee aquarium in Chattanooga TN several times and they have an exhibit that absolutely fascinates me. It's a touch tank on the top floor that is full of sharks, rays, tangs and other marine fish. It's very well constructed and is simply an awesome tank. The thing that fascinates me the most the how the tank/pond/lagoon is built. It's constructed with artificial rock (cement that is treated with something). I have no clue how they make it other than using the obvious (rebar mesh, rebar and cement).

I would seriously love to build a lagoon like this within reason in my basement. I have no clue how much it would take to take on a project like this.

I certainly have the filtration to treat 2,000 gallons worth of water and would like to make a pond like this with at least 1,000 gallons.

Anyone know how to make a pond like this by creating artificial rock?

The use gunite, the same for pools.
Basically what you have to do is build a pool that looks like a lagoon in your basement.
2000 gallon filtration won't be enough with large fish like that as they put a huge amount of waste in your water.

I wouldn't want a pond

Thanks for the reply. I would't want that large of a bioload. I would want a relatively small bioload that is well within reason of utilizing 2000 gallon filtration. I just love the look and a touch tank would be an awesome tank to have.

You can get the same effect if you build some thing fro acrylic and make it look like that if you place Live Rocks in thereto the shape of a lagoon.
