How can I feed cocoworm?

I had a coco worm for three months and I tried to feed it with dead phytoplankton.Since cocoworm reacted with it,I have believed that my coco worm is happy and full.But lately,I heard the news that they only eat live phytoplankton as their food.So I will try to feed my cocoworm with live phytoplankton.But I need some informations to feed them.

1.What kind of phytoplankton do they eat?
2.How can I breed the phytoplankton?

I dont know if they are particular about the species of phytoplankton. One of the most common species to culture is Nannochloropsis oculata which you get live in stores and online for affordable rates.

A common way to raise it is in a 2 liter bottle with an air stone dropped through a hole in the lid run on an air pump. You place the bottle near a light bulb and it will grow darker green as they multiply. Harvest half and refill with saltwater and add more nutrients, usually something like the guillard's f/2 nutrient recipe.

They are usually grown a lower salinity than our reefs but you can use your reef salt to mix up their culture water. I reccomend keeping two bottles going incase one of them crashes so you don't have to totally start over.

No heater is necessary if kept indoors. There is not a measured ratio of water to plankton that I use, you just need a small amount of live phytoplankton to start a new culture bottle. Just enough to barely tint it green or even less would work. The more you start with the faster it will grow though. When the bottle is very dark green and impossible to see through it is time to harvest. You can harvest at any stage but each time you do it will dilute the population so you do want to give it to time to grow back.

No problem and good luck with your cocoworms! One truck for feeding phyto directly is to cut a 2 liter bottle in half and stick the top half over the coral or invert you are feeding. Use a turkey baster to fill the chamber with phyto and it will help keep it there longer than if you just spray it into the tank. I would also turn off any filtration for an hour after feeding to ensure it doesn't just get removed.
