How can I fix this?

Hello reefing fam so I've been out of town working for a few months. I was very excited to get home to my 20 gal mixed reef. But sadly my coral population is about 50% dead. My mom was taking care of it I thought she was doing really good! But something happend not sure what. She said she did a 10 gal water change and cleaned all the filters. I just need some help on what to do in this situation. I'm going to do another water change and see what happens. Any advice helps thank you oh also I seem to have quiet a few sponges growing.

Yes, definitely test water and do some water changes.

I'd hit it with some carbon and up your skimmer (if equipped)

No skimmer. I use hang on back filters I can add more carbon to the filter do u think that will help?

Yea I'd add more carbon and maybe add a poly filter just incase some type of contaminant did get into tank.
