It's skeleton seems to be imbedded in the rock. It's really doing well but I want to move it to the sand bed buts attached to the rock. What the easiest way without damaging it?

Leaving it there, if not broke do not fix it

You can try sawing it off the rock...As in cutting the rock closely to the coral. So basically there will still be rock under it. I don't think you're getting that off the rock

its hardy why not leave it alone

The rest of the rock is getting a ton of halimeda growth that despite picking off grows about an inch every 1-2 weeks. The only way I can think of to rid it is remove the rock and dry it out.

When I absolutely need to remove a coral ( that's happy and growing) from a rock, I try 2 different methods.
If you superglued the piece there, then maybe a flat blade screwdriver can be used to get under the coral and pry it off.
If I can't do it that way, then I would take the rock out of the tank and use a sharp wood chisel and hammer to break the rock just under the coral.
I have several different cheap wood chisels ( from Harbor Freight) that I keep around for stuff like this.

Thats a good idea. How long can an open brain type coral be out of the water? I was thinking of using some sort of band saw also but worry about heat from the friction.

Sounds stupid but I have an attachment to this particular coral. It was my first LPS, a hitchhiker on a piece of live rock I got from the LFS. I think I am just going to leave it be and trim the Algae as needed.

Should be good out of the water for a while. Some of my corals are exposed to air for up to 1/2 hour, during big water changes.
As long as it stays water and doesn't dry out.
