That’ll be cool! You could use the island for a garden of some sort like a zoa garden or Euphyllia garden
I will post them on here in the morningStep one:
In complete disagreement with everyone so far..
Improve the living conditions of the current inhabitants before adding anything else.
Could you please post your water parameters please?
Gotcha. I have heard that coralline algae is a good signFor a year old tank it has no coralline algae, there’s some stuff growing on the sand which can indicate high phos/nitrates and lack of flow.
I’d clean it up, check water chemistry.
People focus on “how can I make my tank look amazing” and forget that fish don’t care about what it looks like but what affects them directly. This isn’t rocket science
I used RO water. I’d rather not use tap water in my salt tanks or even my fresh tanksInadequate water chemistry to start and unless there’s an RO/DI situation there are probably metals and contaminants in the water.
If that was a dog cage I wouldn’t be suggesting to add more dogs.
I haven’t dosed or added any Coralline algae in my tank mostly because I’ve done dry rock. I also haven’t gotten many snails and most of the frags don’t have any on there. I have not been able to clean as much as I’d like recently due to being out of town and working. Also my flow was low and I just added another pump to increase flow. Yes, I know the fish don’t care what it looks like. That’s why I came here asking how I can improve it. Not how can I make it look betterFor a year old tank it has no coralline algae, there’s some stuff growing on the sand which can indicate high phos/nitrates and lack of flow.

Yeah they don’t move much and you can even buy dry barnacle and put them in tank and that’s where it’ll call home and pop out for feeding the go back home fun little personality to the tankI may do that!
It doesn’t. I took it out. I have a HOB filter running on it at the momentHow is flow getting into the reactor. I only see the one powerhead. Also tunze makes some in tank overflow filters. It will clean up your water surface and provide a place for carbon or anything else and move a decent amount of water. They are just real finicky where the water lever sits so it takes awhile to figure out where it will clean the surface and not blow bubbles.
Generally 1-2 times a month. But I have been told you don’t need to unless it absolutely needs itWhat’s your water change schedule like
Ok I’ll check I’ll have to do that in the morning though. I did put another pump in there to increase flow and I’ll be ordering more CUC soonOP I would Indeed check parameters and find a way to increase flow. A CUC might also help with the dinos. If it were me I would definitely like know where I’m at before moving forward.
Can be true for sure. I would increase water changes until your nitrates drop though. I’ve seen worse algae situations but you don’t want it to get too far ahead.Generally 1-2 times a month. But I have been told you don’t need to unless it absolutely needs it
