I'm dosing kalk with an ato and my alk and calcium are maintaing the parameters I want.
My mag levels are mantaining 1500 or so for several months even though I haven't added any.
Is this possible,? Corals look good and coralline is growing.

Are you using rodi? Source water could have magnesium in it.

If you are maintaining calcium with kalc even conservative water changes will keep mag at the right levels.

The demand for magnesium is always very low (less than 1/10th of the calcium demand, often less than 1 ppm per day), and your salt mix obviously starts very high (what mix?).

You may never need any (if your magnesium measurement is correct).

I understand that reef crystals is relatively high in mag. I guess I'll go with that. Thanks.
