This tank isnt cycled. I would take the crab back to the lfs until the tank is cycled
Its cycled completely cus I make sure it was before I even thought about putting anything in it. Everything was good than I went to church and test it and that's what I got

It’s weird you still have ammoina.
You probably need to have the lfs double check it.

API will sometimes give a weird .25 ammoina when you use things like prime.

You may also want to pick up some dr Tim’s one and only.

The presence of nitrite and ammoin says the cycle isn’t quite fully runnng.

I've wait a while and test again and this is what I got but two the crab only ate some of the food but not all and it's at a spot I cant get too

This is the new test results

Yea that’s good. Not sure why your nitrites are so high.
A water change and some Bacteria .

Neither of those two levels will harm the crab nor will lowering them with a WC.
Do try to feed some alge tabs or nori if you’re not.
Those are pretty hungry animals. Personally I’ve never managed to keep one. (No matter how much algae I have ).

Ok that's good to know but as far as I see this crab is lazy he dont more often is it because it's new surroundings. And I feed it one it ate half and crawl up high on another piece of rock. I shoulda got a small fish like I plan on doing

Nitrites are high because tank is still cycling

Tanks always cycle till they dry.

How the ammoina dropped to undetectable (as it should once it has sucessfully started) , yet not convert finish converting it to no3 it probaly above my pay grade. Common reccomendation from the house chemist is to ignore it.

Converting ammonia to nitrite is the first step in the process.

It would seem to me the bacteria needed to process the nitrite to nitrate are not fully established.

This is exactly where I am in my cycle process. I can process 2 ppm ammonia in 24 hours or less however nitrite is still high thus cycle is not complete

So it's widely accepted that nitrite isn't "necessarily" toxic to marine fish however the presence or high levels of nitrite would indicate an incomplete cycle.

Can fish be added? Likely. Can the biological filtration handle the bio load? Maybe
Read those threads.
Randy and a few others say it’s due to the lack of nitrite eating bacteria, whereas there is evidence of ammonia eating bacteria and generally more of the concern.

One member points out the science behind using a fish to cycle and completely ignores nitrites as it’s ammoina that is the concern.

So if ammoina is being completely consumed , its cycling.

My personal takeaway is still , wait a month, Lol.

Pretty much turns to semantics and not the science or actual concern of the presence of ammoina.

I agree with your point...cycling yes.

The end result of the nitrogen cycle is nitrite to nitrate is what I was getting at
