im building a zoa grow out and frag tank. Do you thank 7” is tall enough if I use lower lighting and flat discs for colonys.

I don't see an issue with that. Raise the lights or lower the output.

Ok just wanted to duoble check before I start cutting my acrylic.
Thanks

Just a thought but with the 7 in height are you planning on having any fish?

Maby a clown or 2 but nothing other than that and some snails

Once the clowns get bigger they will go in my 50g

I am making a window screen top for it. I always make one every time I get a new tank

My frag tank is 8” but looking back, I wish I went with a 10”-12”. If you’re only doing zoas and not using a 8bulb t5, then you’ll be fine.

If you're not purposely trying to keep them super shallow you can also just build them a little higher for more water volume. I grow all my zoas out in deep blue 60s.. 48x24x12.. The 12" lets me line the entire outside of the frag tank with magnetic frag racks.. I can also eggcrate the entire bottom and then build platforms for higher light palys and zoas. Works well for me. For selling them a shallower one is good for photography and for people to look at them close up...
