I’m running a bean animal and was wondering how deep into the sump should my pipes go? Also wondering about drilling holes into those pipes to decrease the noise. I’ve read some people drilling a single hole into that pipe and I’ve seen geo making a couple of skits into their setups.

1. How deep into the water level or far from the bottom of the sump should the drains go?
2. Should I drill a single hole or do slits like in the pic. And if so where do I drill them?

An inch or two below the waterline. The deeper you go, the longer it takes for the siphon to begin during a pump restart. No idea what the holes are for.

Id cut the drain lines to have only an inch or so below the water like Dugthefish said. Are you having noise issues? And you shouldn't need to make slits in the pipe.

Another question
Do you glue the pipes going into the sump? My sump has bulk heads and wondering if I should permanently glue those or would dry fitting them be good enough? (This is the pipe from the tank drain to the sump)

I think the slits are supposed to allow air to escape faster upon pump restart. You achieve the same thing by having the pipes just 1" below the water line. I'd dry fit - you want to be able to get them out later right?

i also like 1-2” below the water line. i have never used slots or holes at the end. however, i will use threaded unions for service purposes.
