How did u hide external overflows

How did you hide external overflows ? Acrylic sheet inside the glass, painting glass from inside/outside? Pros cons ?
Pictures would be highly appreciated.

I took black material, drapery liner and taped it to the back of my tank. I taped some to
the back of the overflow. I painted the pipes in the overflow black
You can see the overflow in the back in this shot if you look closely. What you see is about 3" of water flowing into my overflow and its reflection off the top. The overflow box is 12" deep. Those pipes hanging down are my sea swirl returns inside the tank.
