How did you QT your flame wrasse?

Hi guys,

I’ll be ordering a pair of flame wrasse as soon as I setup my QT system (20G long, small heater,HOB filter, and pvc pipes). I’d like to know personal experience quarantining flame wrasse.

PLEASE only reply if you’ve ever QTed flame wrasses or other fairy wrasses. I just want to hear from personal experience!

Not flames but other fairies ( exquisite, orange back) both went through an observational 30 day quarantine. The orange back had a tank with sand and rock, I can't remember if I had that for the exquisite. Neither required meds.

I only have observational QT. I have a 40 gal reef system that I keep my new fish in while they get use to eating captive food. This system is full of Fauna and Flora. Various food was fed to fish in this system, but many would forage the fauna. I also have a dither clownfish pair that feed aggressively and help entice new fish to eat.
A variety of Fairly and Flasher wrasse went through this system prior to enter my DT. Sensitive wrasse wrasse like Leopard, and Tamarin wrasses did great when they acclimated to captivity like this.

I also have a mature 40-gallon reef so maybe I should put them in there for now.

Still curious if anyone has ever done hypo, TTM, or copper on flames.. anyone???

I have done copper power and general cure qt on fairy and flasher wrasses with no issues but not a flame wrasse in particular

Currently I have a c. cyanopluera in quarantine. I did a 30 minute dip in saltwater and h2o2 at 150ppm. Then added to an observation tank with black mollies for 30 days. I also dosed GC to the observation tank on days 2 and 9.

I have seen no adverse affect on the fish. I also see no sign of disease. Maybe they were clean to start. Maybe the h2o2 and GC did their jobs. I’ll never know, but things look good now. I have 10 more days of observation left.

I QT'd my female flame wrasse 4 weeks with Coppersafe @ 2.0 ppm measured with Hanna checker. No problems.

Just treat them like any other wrasse. What ever you use for a tank make sure to cover it to prevent jumping!

I do the 14day/ 36hr TTM.
PraziPro day 4 and 11.
By day 4 they usually are eating the live food so no worries about the Prazi
For sand sleeping wrasses, I have a small section in the QT tanks for 3 inches of sand. This gets dumped each transfer.

X2....I do the exact same thing for the same reasons with a 40 breeder ...to observe and acclimate them to foods etc.. the water has same parameters as the DT.
