What are your favorite ways to secure your rockwork before adding water to your tank...

Silicone?

Milliput?

Etc.?

It's a bit messy and there is some trial and error involved to get the perfect mixture for what you want, but overall great stuff. Insanely strong once it dries.

I used this stuff that was recommended by a friend. It was awesome and is easily molded or covered with rubble to completely camouflage it. JP

I use 1/4" acrylic rods I got from Amazon and drill holes....that way if I ever need to take my rockscape apart I can just slide them off.

I need more rock now lol

I used fiberglass rodding! 1/2" and 1/4" with a 1" HDPE board as the base!

Thanks. My current rockwork has been held together by "fingers crossed" method. Haha. I want to incorporate more shelves in the new tank. I like to be able to move things around but i want it to be secure.

Maybe this calls for a mix of rods and epoxy.

Gorilla glue GEL is what I used to hold mine in place. I went that route because it was easy to get those tight places with it in the bottle.

I have used zip ties and I have used epoxy to secure some rocks in my tank

I used small square acrylic sheets and this epoxy to make a nice solid base for island rocks. The acrylic sheets allowed to be have a much wider +stronger base for the rocks. It will make your skimmer go crazy. Not a problem when setting up the tank, but I regret using this stuff when mounting frags later on.

Gravity?
Actually I got a fiberglass driveway marker rod from Home Depot and a masonry bit and drilled holes in the rock for the rods. I used superglue gel the first time I set up my tank and it worked fine, except I had an aggregate 40-50 pound piece of rock to deal with, which was kind of a pain when I had to move my tank.
