So i really like this strawberry shortcake that's up for sale, the guy actually has a few of them but was wondering how difficult they are...I know acros arent easy but my tank is mature and light is definitely strong enough as well as nutrient levels being in check. I know some acros are definitely more difficult than others though so was just wondering where this one ranks on the difficulty scale. It looks to have good PE and is priced at the equivalent of about $45 (idk if that's a good deal or not).

It is the most sensitive acro in my tank, but they often come in as maricultured pieces (atleast in the US).

Staple in the hobby . Not hard to keep , just have stable parameters with decent par . How old is your tank

Only one way to find out
BUY IT

Y

Yeah, that's one way to find out haha but i prefer to aim for success when spending $45 which is why I'm seeking first hand experience
in all seriousness start of with a plain green or red monti. if thats too boring try a digi im sure you can find frags of these for 5 bucks a piece if you look hard enough.

I have thriving digis and other corals and even a clam that's doing great in that same tank. It wouldn't be my first coral...just venturing into the world of acros is a little daunting at first.

I grew a strawberry shortcake from a nub to a mini colony a few years back and I'm no acro guy. If it's aquacultured or from a hobbyist that's your best bet

Im unsure if it's aquacultured or not but the fact that it's encrusted over the frag plug gives me the impression it's been in captivity for a while at least and has been growing

How are you keeping alk stable right now
Water changes and testing every 2 days to make sure it's not dropping too much. If i notice a drop, i immediately add some AF KH Plus in the right dose.

It is one that is starting to take off among all my frags in an sps system I started a while back. Price looks good compared to here and frag sure looks nice and healthy. I say go for it
I think I will!

I had one in my last tank before I moved. I got it from a local reefer. I was still new to the SPS game and let my PO4 get too high. It didn’t like it but hung in there. After I stabilized my tank, the thing was the fastest growing coral in my tank! It’s going to be one of the first acros I get after my new tank matures more. First picture is it when I dang near killed it. Second and third are after it started to take off! I wish I could have it back! It’s super hardy IMO.

Is that a good price for the one in my picture? It's ~$45

It's one of the best growing corals in my two tanks. Funny how we all seem to have ones that do better and some that do not fare as well.

How does the price match up? They're asking ~$45
