Just switched over lighting to a photon v2 and like the idea of running a moonlight to be able to observe all the night critters doing there thing. The fixture allows me to run the violets at 1% which is fairly dim. Dim enough that all the fish minus my powder brown tang went to their normal sleeping spots and my blue linkia starfish(who doesn't come out when lights are on pretty much ever) came out. The corals show some florescence though so I am wondering if the lights should be even dimmer in order to complete the photosynthetic cycle?

I use moon lights for my own view pleasure. Its to enjoy the tank a little longer on the weekends when im sitting on the couch having a couple cocktails. I find its best to have complete darkness throughout the rest of the night and having moonlights all through the night doesn't do anything but make my inhabitants stressed.
