How do discosoma grow/reproduce?

So my tank is still pretty new. I got this teeny tiny mushroom frag about 3 weeks ago. It seems to be doing well (from what I understand of mushrooms if they are open and laying relatively flat they are happy) I've noticed over the last few days that the live rock it's on is getting blotches of the exact same light violet purple all over. I can't get a very picture, but I'm wondering if they spore? And it's spreading all over this rock? The frag is in the bottom left of the picture and one of the purple blotches can be seen in the lower right.

pic is little fuzzy ,my guess is some type of sponge or coralline growth.

Yeah my lights throw my camera for a loop. No matter how I filter it I can never seem to get decent close ups of anything in my tank.
