Some of the best snorkeling I have done was in Jamaica it was the city with the cruise port. I can’t remember what it was. I’m sure you could ask some of the locals. The only thing I didn’t like about Jamaica was all the people trying push weed and cocaine on you.

Sandals Antigua is stunning and all inclusive I’ve been twice and was there about 4 weeks ago for 7 days. Free snorkelling and diving etc

Depends on budget and what your after of course. I felt a lot safer in Antigua that Jamaica to be honest and I’ve been to Jamaica about 5 times over the years. It wasn’t that long ago they were on the no go list or be aware for us in the UK because of murders fighting etc.

And welcome to R2R as well it’s great to have you with us!

My wife and I went to St. Lucia for our tenth anniversary and stayed at Sandals. Absolutely loved it. I went scuba diving almost every day. There’s snorkeling also. Saw giant sponges bigger than a human, lots of sea fans, midnight parrot fish, eels to name a few. One diver in our group reported that a year earlier a devil ray curiously swim around her group checking them out for 10 minutes.
It’s expensive but so worth it. The people on the island were so friendly. The volcanic mineral bath is a life experience you’ll never forget.

Not a snorkeler but have been diving in a lot of the Caribbean. The best shallow reefs I've seen were in the Caymans and believe it or not Curacao. The west end has an all inclusive resort that has one of the best house reefs I've ever seen (called Alice in Wonderland). If I was at home I could post some pictures of it.

Would not recommend Abergris Caye in Belize. Reef there was in very poor shape but the snorkel tour in Hol Chen Park is cool with all the nurse sharks.

the wife and I are looking to take a vacation in February.
Most likely Caribbean. Looking for the best snorkeling we can find. Also looking for an all inclusive resort.

Seems like we are down to Jamaica, Antigua, Aruba, or St. John

Thanks

St. John’s has great snorkeling right from the beach

Highly recommend Grand Cayman. We saw all kinds of corals right off the beaches including large colonies of Elkhorn which is almost gone in many places. The food scene there is also phenomenal.

To answer your question it really depends on what you want to see. The various areas have different environments with different animals. Back reefs with no coral or soft coral can be a lot of fun, especially at night. Other areas have cliff reefs or large sponge areas. Also consider if you want to do self shore diving or go out in a boat. Some areas are great shore opportunities while others are great only if you have a boat. I had good luck at bon-aire. You have to rent a car but there are lot of places to go if you can handle the mosquitos and not overly worried about someone stealing things from your car.. Personally, I do not go to the places that are physically dangerous as I do not think it is worth it and most of the Caribbean animals are similar throughout the Caribbean.

Another amazing place for diving and snorkeling is roatan Honduras. It is one of the best dive destinations in the Caribbean as the reef is right off the shore and since it is a small island there is very little agricultural runoff damage to the reef

What are you looking for? Corals, fish, Acropora etc?
I have done allot of scuba and snorkeling but not in all the places you are asking.
Honestly the Florida keys is one of the best for snorkeling but not great for Scuba.
Issues is there are not many all inclusive resorts there.
It is so good for snorkeling because of the kind of reefs. It doesn't fit the description really of a normal reef but is made up of lots of patch reefs.
It has allot of decent shallow reefs and there is little current or waves most of the time. Other than that most of the other places are pretty similar. Most will depend on who is running the trip and what you are looking for.
Most people do not care about coral so allot of operators take you where there are fish so you may want to ask if you want to see coral.

Allot of the areas over the years have become mostly or predominately gorgonia in the Caribbean..

I would strongly recommend West Bay in Roatan. One of the best snokerling spots.
