I just purchased a whole bunch of items for my tank including some starfish. It says they should Be acclimated for no less then 2 hours using the drip method. How exactly do I do this?

It's a drip line and I put a j hook and basically a airline tube with a valve at the end that controls the drip I'll have to take a pic for ya

Drip acclimation is exactly that, dripping water from your display over time into the bucket or container that the livestock you want to add to your tank. For the first 30 minutes the drips should be slow enough that you can see individual drops coming from the water line (you can use airhose for this). To get it to drip you can use a small plastic adjustable air valve or simply tie a knot in the airline to restrict the flow. After the 1st 30 minutes slowly increase the flow to a much faster drip. Then the next 30 even faster. The last 30 should be an almost full flow of water.

Please be sure to maintain temperature in the container to match your display. You can use a small heater or what I do a lot is take a big Tupperware container and fill it with your tank water and put the lid on it and let it float in the acclimation container. Every 15 minutes or so dump the water out and refill with display water.

You can use a valve on the end of some soft airline tubing... but what also works is just to tie a knot... tighter slower drip... looser faster drip.

Yep I do the same as hybridazn described, with the last step slightly different. I remove about 75% of the water for that last portion at "full flow". At this point the parameters are usually close enough, so I open the valve up for a solid flow to bring the temp in the acclimation bucket to that of the tank.

Since dripping, I haven't lost anything from acclimation.
