Am I too just let my skimmer go into overdrive like this to break it in?

If it’s not a new tank and only a new skimmer, put it in a bucket with some tank water and let it go crazy for a few days.Am I too just let my skimmer go into overdrive like this to break it in?![]()
Well it’s both. Old but newly setup and a new skimmer! If it’s not a new tank and only a new skimmer, put it in a bucket with some tank water and let it go crazy for a few days.
Then my approach likely won’t work as well as well without the bioload. But it will still get a slime coat established and all the other normal break in “stuff” done, just in a bucket and not in your sump. For what it’s worth, I’ve put new three different skimmers in my tank and they all needed to break in but never for the days and weeks other have mentioned.Well it’s both. Old but newly setup and a new skimmer!
Turn it to max and yes just let it run! How long has the tank been up and running? Was there a previous skimmer?Am I too just let my skimmer go into overdrive like this to break it in?![]()
Approximately 59 minutes!Turn it to max and yes just let it run! How long has the tank been up and running? Was there a previous skimmer?
I took the little cap off the empty line and stuck it in the tank so it pours back into the tank and there’s less salt spray/bubbles.I would raise it up in the water line so it doesn’t overflow so much lower it when it settles.
