I have a coral beauty angel fish that used to nip at corals but now has developed a full blown appetite for coral flesh. I have been trying to catch it for a week and can not catch this fish. He will not go in a fish trap and does not show interest in any food, only corals. He will not travel more than three inches from the rockwork. He has killed a four inch walindii colony, a four inch acuminata colony, about seven frags, and eaten the a single branch off of another frag, eaten the tips off of a milli, tore into my blastos, and started on my loripes colony and took polyp's off my blueberry gorgonia. Within thirty seconds of me not trying to catch it he is out munching on corals.

Wow.... Sounds like a little *******! I say spear gun. But, seriously, have you tried putting coral frags that he likes in the trap?

I have heard of people using a small barbless fish hook with some food on it to catch hard to catch fish. Put the hook on the end of some fishing line and dangle it in front of the angel.

I had the same problem with the same fish in my 120. We seriously had to take every single last rock out of the tank and it still took 2 of us to corner him and get him out. It was a painful lesson. Now I hate the word Angel or anything that even remotely rhymes with Angel. lol

I despise this fish so much right now

I'm sure he's not only living off eating corals, there has to be some prepared foods that will excite him.. Once you find that certain food keep introducing it into the trap, he will eventually go in, try adding garlic...

Or a tiny barbless hook works, but it is a little more tricky since you can easily hook other fish...

I got him, he is in my refugium right now...beautiful fish. I'm gonna be sad to see him go had it for three years but it's no longer reef safe.

This is what I did to get one out that would not go in a trap.

I used a bunch of empty two liter bottles with the tips cut off and inverted, and chased him around until he finally went in one. He went in the same one my yellow tang was stuck in. Yellow tang just went right in there

Good luck it's all I can say. Mine used to terrorize anyone that would dwell into the rocks, specially at night. I had acquired a Juve Orange Shoulder and a Yellow Tang and neither one made it.

I had to remove all the rocks as a last measure since trapping it and starving the tank did not work.

Sold it for $20 at my LFS and now everyone is so much h
