Hey guys, not sure where to post this so I'll give it a shot here.
I had a slight algea problem last week. Brown dust on sand and rocks.. I tested and my p04 was .00 and nitrate 6.7. So I'm thinking dinos. There's was brown algea that disappeared at night and a darker almost red patch that stayed overnight. Thinking cyano. I ordered neophos and microbacter7 and turned the fuge light off and fed heavy.
I went out of town for until today and my tank blew up in algea. The darker red patches got larger and spread and the brown blanketed everything. And my n03 and p04 basically hasn't changed. Now that I put the whites on for pictures the dark doesn't look red but dark green.
I was under the impression I should not do a water change because it would lower n03 and p04. The neophos and Microbacter7 and here now. Whats the best way to clean this tank up and balance the nutrients? Also, what's the a good microscope I can order? I like the idea of plugging into a pc. What's the best magnification to see dinos and diatoms?
Tank is 6 months old
Lightly stocked
LPS and soft corals
Cuc- 2 hermits and 1 trochus and 2 ceriths. All my snails died after a few months but must have mated because I have a ton of baby snails in my fuge. I guess from when I put 2 trochus in there to clean up for a while, lol.
Salt-34.1
Ph- 7.8 low- 8 high
Alk- 7.5
Cal-420
Mag-1433
N03-6.2
P04- .00
You guys are the best. Thank you
