How do I frag this coral?

Yeah, we’ve cut some kenya tree corals off the rocks. It is a weird feel.

My first try at fraging a coral was a green star coral. I just cut it into 3/4” pieces and super glued them to the frag plugs. Most of them made it, and are in several of my tanks.

Don't glue it as glue doesn't stick well to nepthias. Use a needle and fishing line and run the line thru the stalk and then tie it to a frag plug/disk or rubble. I've never lost a(nepthia) frag doing this but have lost several by trying to super glue them. You can also use toothpicks and rubber bands to hold them down until they attach. Usually only takes a week or two for them to attach and then you can remove said toothpicks or line.

I just did a few frags where I super glued the thread to the frag plug. Then tied the frag to the plug.

Superglue do not work with leather so don't even bother. I use rubberbands to hold the pieces on a rubble or plug.

This coral won't "glue" to a rock. It will slime and pop off.
Instead, try using an elastic band and tie it to a small piece of rubble. After a week check that it is attached and remove the band.

Good point, I wasn't thinking it through fully... Usually when I do leathers and this type of soft corals, I put them in a low flow container with some rubble and they attach on their own after a week or so...
