I would like to know (if not mentioned) what type of salt are you using. That can also attribute to the production of coraline algae in your system... I have used salts from Oceanic to AquaVitro to now ReefCrystals.
IMHO Oceanic had some great results but way too high in calcium, AquaVitro was just ok the parameters on that salt was all over the place, ReefCrystals has some really stable parameters.
In my 9 years in the hobby I must say ReefCrystals happens to be my best choice for "reef salt" and for getting the best needed chemical make-up for Coraline Algae growth.
