My tank is about 1.5 months old. All parameters seem stable.
but this brown hair like algae? What is it and how do I get rid of it

Looks like dinos to me. Do you have a microscope by chance?

Here's the best source of information on dinos on reef2reef in my opinion. There's a lot of competing ways to tackle the problem, a lot of misinformation, a lot of conjecture, and frankly a ton we don't know! I would start here as a solid basis to form your own plan of action.

A microscope would be wonderful to positively ID the species of dino you have (if it is in fact dinos). If you don't have one, I'd be more than happy to ID what you have if you can mail me a sample.

Yikes! What are your nitrate and phosphate levels at? What type of system are you running SPS/LPS/Mixed?

More detail the better depending on what you have in your tank. I would check your params, it varies but reducing your light cycle or color spectrum can help as well (reduce red light and intensity), you can try increasing flow in these dead areas as well

I'd also try and blow off as much as the algae and do a 20% water change as a start.

IF YOU HAD TO TAKE A REEFING EXAM, WOULD YOU PASS?
