So I have hade this 29 gallon tank for about 1 year now and it had a cyano breakout but I took care of that with chemiclean. Currently I have Dino’s but they are minor. I have an external protine skimmer, UV sterilizer and a hang on back filter. The only thing bad about my tank is the lighting I have cheap LED’s from pet smart. Do you think I need T5 lighting or anything else.

All depends on what you want to have in your tank. Softies and mushrooms should be okay with your lights. If you want to upgrade later on when you have more experience and knowledge why not?

With those lights you can get away with less light demanding corals like green star polyps and mushrooms. Anything other than that and you will need higher output lights. Depending on the corals you want to keep you can then decide what lights to upgrade too.

It all depends what you want in your tank. All corals have different light requirements. Check reviews for reef lights in google, or here on different threads. t5s do a good job you can find cheap fixtures on amazon
