How Do People Make Beautiful Coral?

I'm interested in the science & work on how it takes to "breed" all these different and exotic corals. Is there any informative videos anyone would like to share?

Well that's not exciting. I was under the impression some of these big names we're breeding their own designer corals.

The find them in the ocean. Buy a bunch and weed out the so-so and ugly ones. Those not suitable for aquarium life die off in the living or fragging process. What is left are the good looking ones that are fraggable.

Most of the time, the big names just pay more than other people for the ones that the wholesalers find that are outstanding.

Lol yeah! It’s true what everyone said so far. Lots of these stores label a ZOA colony like it’s Marjuana that they found in somebody else’s tank or ocean depending on its colors. Time + Parameters + Water Changes + Maybe a Rare Feeding = A reef or colony.

Lighting is a huge aspect too. Many people don’t understand that most of these great corals only show their colors under the right color of light. Blues etc. Some corals also change color over time as well. So paying up for a frag that happens to have the best color isn’t always the best option.

How to get different coral color patterns:
Light manipulation (cause stress on the zoanthylis)
High nutrient tanks
Amino manipulation
Select nutrient dosing
