I did have a Ruby Red dragonette as well until recently when he decided to carpet surf.

Everyone is fat, happy, gets along, has their own place to sleep in the rocks, gets fed four times a day, and yet I still have to dose nitrates and sometimes phosphates to stay above zero. My last additions were the bimacs in November of last year and they finished my wish list.

Many years ago I had a porcupine puffer who could see the kitchen from inside of the tank (about 15 feet away). He'd go nuts and start splashing and spitting water at the surface anytime he saw me open up the freezer because he knew that seeing that door open meant he might be getting a piece of mussel/squid/shrimp.

They are definitely smart. I have a Hippo tang that hides from everyone except me. My granddaughter was over yesterday, and was trying to get a picture. I finally had to take the phone, have Mackenzie walk away, and Dorie came out and posed for the camera. She's finally starting to come out for my wife.

I just have a bubble magus curve 7 and cheato. Not running gfo or anything else.

I think people long ago assumed animals that could't project emotion on a noticeable level were unintelligent. Only now are we realizing how wrong they were... Birds, lizards and recently fish. I just watched Blue planet 2 and it showed a tuskfish finding a clam, carrying it to a favourite rock and smashing the clam against the rock until it got inside... In animal intelligence terms that counts as using tools. Later in the same segment it showed a grouper finding prey and hovering over it until an octopus nearby noticed it and went after the small fish in the crevices, the ones that the octopus failed to catch would dart out the other side where the grouper would pick the stragglers off. I'm no biologist (I wish I was) but to me that suggest the grouper recognized a pattern of the octopus going in, a portion of its prey escaping and then taking advantage of that.

I'm not saying you'r porcupine puffer is going to help you with your Thesis statement or anything like that but I'm confident in saying theres more intelligence then most people give them credit for. I'm very excited to see what we learn about this in the coming years as hopefully more people decide to further study the topic!
