How do they know?

Here's a question for you fish gurus. I've been told, that you should not put similar looking fish in a tank together or they will fight. My question is how do the fish know what they look like in the first place. :tongue:

Great question. Maybe they talk to eachother and ask eachother what the other one looks like or better yet....

Another fish in the tank says hey that new fish looks just like you....why don't you go over there and kick its ****.

Makes sense to me... Though I have seen fish look the same pair up and bully everyone else.. so maybe it just a matter of who talks to who first...

Maybe they look at themselves in the glass, haha. Thats why you should always keep it clean
