How do vermited snail's hurt coral

Their mucus webs irritate corals and they stop extending polyps or recede. They are horrible.
Actually, I have never seen (ever) an instance of a vermatid snail's web irritating a coral.

I have seen coral grow around them and have seen vermatid's plant themselves in dead spots of colonies or in their skeletons.

I’ve had them irritate my corals. The second I removed them they started opening back up (leathers).
I still see them in my tank, and remove them as they pop up so they don’t get to plague levels.

I have had the same reef for ~20 years. Plenty of them have come and gone, same with Asterinas, spirodbids, various tunicates, and stomatella… all things on the “ohh my good it kills coral” list that never actually bother coral.

That’s pretty cool.
