Hello,

Been to the ends of the earth trying to catch the two 5+ inch sally lf's in my dt. 300G tank with very intricate aquascaping.. so its rather hard to just grab them. They have started decimating some very expensive lps and trying to go after fish now.

I've tried baited traps, stockings, coke bottles, tweezers, and my last resort a very pointy stick! Nothing works, or even comes close to catching them. I have over 300 pcs of coral glued down and removing everything is NOT HAPPENING :-(

Any ideas anybody? I know you guys are pretty inventive... I was even thinking about a baited hook???? I dont know what todo now!

Thanks,
Cassidy

How about one of those crab traps you use to catch crabs off the shore? What kind of baited trap did you use?

I bet some interceptor would 'catch him' lol

My buddy just told me today that he used like a fish trap and then tied some food to a line and threaded it through trap. Then he dropped the food where they hang out and when they went after it he slowly led them into the trap.

easy, this is what you need
1. deep glass bowl
2. bait(krill,shrimp,squid,ect....)basically which ever u prefer
3.Crazy glue or panty hose
Then what u r going to do is glue the bait in the center of the bowl or use the pantyhose and fill it with smaller bait like brineshrimp or krill so they dont float around, and glue it to the center of the bowl, then you partially burry the bowl in the substrate and make sure it touches the rock they hang out on,and when the crab enters the bowl he will not be able to climb out because his legs have no traction on glass(crabs slip on glass). But the bowl has to be deep enough so that he can't get his legs over the edge when he tries to retreat.

I feel for you, I had two of them and one went on a killing spree.

I tried catching them and they are quick.

In the end I got lucky and caught it in a net when it was in the front against the glass.

I would try starving the tank then putting in a piece of
food weighted down and try to catch it with a net.

Starvation and food In a glass bowl that It can get In but not out due to the slick glass walls. The key here Is It must be so hungry that It will go Into a place It normally would not! I have caught so many different things like this It's easy, The hard part Is to not give In and feed the tank anything until yoiu catch the little booger...

the not feeding is MOST important. also shut the lights off when you do this. this is how i caught my mirthax crab (emerald)

here is a quick example of the trap i used to catch my crab same principal as the bowl.
