How do you clean back sump?

I rarely look in the back sump area of my JBJ 28gal nano cube, I just replace/clean all media and put it back.

When I did look back there to see if I can find a missing fish.. I was surprised at how yucky it was!!

Considering how narrow and deep the chambers are.. how do you guys clean out the debris? What's your secret?

I just take everything out and use the Aqueon siphon pump and suck it out after I stop all pumps after cleaning I put the new water back into the refugium. I have a JBJ AIO 45 gallon
