How do you clean live rock???

Hello, me again! I have so many questions about this wonderful new hobby, I will be pestering you all for a while for expert advice. Thank God I found this forum! So...how do you clean live rock from things apart corals growing on it? Things like sponges, algae, white spots, hard coral like growth? Or don't normal live rocks grow such things and don't need cleaning? I have tried cleaning mine with a hard brush but I can't get into difficult places like under overhangs and crevices.

I used to blow off my rock every week and pull off some of the hair algae. After 6 months I had 4 shrimp, a pencil urchin, a lawnmower, and a few assorted snails that like rocks (bumble bees are my fav). They now take care of the rock. I only help them out when the red cyano comes at xmas time.
