What do you do with the bio-media? I can clean just about everything else with a bleach and de-clorinate but how do I handle the bio-block/balls I'm using to cycle the quarantine setup? I could re-seed new media from the main setup but what to do afterwards always seems to be missed.

What is media made from? If it's cleanable, I'd bleach it. If not, throw it out

In the grand scheme of things...media is cheap. Throw it out!

I buy a box of Marine Pure media balls every few months and throw them in my sump. I use about 4-8 balls and a bottle of Bio Spira to seed my QT tanks depending on size, (I have a few 10, 20 and 45 gallon QT tanks). It doesn't have to be Marine Pure, (that's just what I use) you can use any media you can get from anywhere and throw it in the sump to grow bacteria on. Just make sure you leave it in there long enough to actually be useful.

I’m looking at the 1.5” Marinepure spheres. I'm planning on using my 40B setup for quarantine. The last time I had a tank going I didn't quarantine and had all sorts of issues. This time I'm going for a smarter approach. I hesitate to throw away something that I could clean and re-use but maybe that's the best option.

Bio media is disposable in a QT. I have enough extra Biomedia in my sump to set up 3 Hospital/QT tanks if needed.

I would rather not trash stuff unless that's the only good option. I've never done quarantine before and suffered the consequences. New tank, new approach. Time to hit the books again.
