Hi everyone,
I just wanted to ask for some best practices on how some of you dose NOPOX to your system.
I have a 54 gallon corner bowfront that is not reef ready, so I’m running a CPR overflow to a TriggerSystem Cube Sump. I ran a Fluval Canister Filter for the 1st year and was battling everything (pH, GHA, PO4, NO3), plus the annoyance of cleaning a canister filter twice per month, sometimes weekly.
I’m currently dosing NOPOX by adding it to a glass of RODI water and then using my Accudrip to slowly dose it into my sump return pump section.
I’m doing this because I always see a drop in my pH levels when I dose NOPOX, so the slower I dose it, the less of a pH swing I see. I’ve battled my pH levels since Day 1 when I started my tank almost 2 years ago. I’m currently running a phosban reactor with BRS’ CO2 scrubbing media which has made a significant different since my tank is in our family room where my family spends a lot of time breathing ;-)
I’m in the process of having a custom stand built that will be large enough to house my cube sump under my tank, and I’m thinking about getting a doser. I’ve seen many reefer connect their doser to the NOPOX bottle since the solution can be stored in most dosing reservoirs. Is there a particular tubing that needs to be used as well?
Thank you in advance to anyone that can share their best practices on how they dose NOPOX.
