I was looking for an easier more complete method to start a siphon on my overflow tube. I always end up with an air bubble in the tube unless I "drink" a ton of fish water. Any ideas or tips on how to get the water flowing without the air bubbles and salty drink?

Use a piece of air line tubing. Snake it up the tube, and suck out the air.. Worked for me back in my fresh water days.

Not many ways around that. If you have enough flow the bubbles will go away so you just need to get the flow going.

If you happen to have kids, use a nasal siphon. Or if not you can buy one at Walmart for about a dollar.

I agree with the earlier post. Some air tubing will definitely help. Place end of tubing at the very top of U-tube and inhale until the flow begins.

A little saltwater in your mouth once in awhile won't hurt you. Anyway, just close your eyes and pretend your swimming at the beach. Can take a trip and never leave the farm.
