I have about 20 mushroom polyps in tank in a garden on the right side (maroon, purple, green, and a teal morph) but lately I've had oranges popping up around the tank. The issue is the new shrooms are growing in from under the bases of my LPS (hammer and Duncan) and the LPS are losing this battle hard. Ideas for removal? The problem shrooms as far as I know are all discosoma.

Might try injecting with fresh water.

Can youbpost pictures of the problem shrooms?

You could probably scrape them off with a scalpel or razor blade. I know some people say that products like Aiptasia X can damage and/or kill corals too, but I have accidentally dropped some on my Indigo Discosoma as well as my Aquaman Rgodactis, both of whom ate the Aiptasia X, and they are both fine.

Honestly I am surprised the Hammer would be losing to the mushrooms. Duncans...never rrally heard of them being aggressive, even in self defense, but my mushrooms are outright touching my Duncan, and there no problems. The Mushrooms and the Duncans are growing and I never see any tissue damage or recession from either.

Does anyone on #reefsquad have any suggestions for removing the mushrooms other than scraping them off?

Not the world's greatest, but the best I can do with my phone. Small new head of the hammer isn't what I was worried about, there is another head off camera that's been unhealthy for a while, but was recovering until last week when I saw the shrooms. The Duncan has been fighting that shrooms for nearly a month.

inject them with a strong Kalkwasser solution

Evening all.

I normally would say pull the rock, grab a chisel and chip the mushroom off with a piece of the rock it is attached to. In the case my best thought would be take a blade or scalpel and cut as close the the base as possible and then cover up the base with super glue.

I got rid of all my mushrooms by just using some forceps to grab them by the base and pull them right off the rock.
I tried forceps on the one by the Duncan since it was easy to reach, but it either came back or I didn't get it.

Follow up: about a week ago while doing a WC I decided to just drop some super glue over the offending mushrooms. The Duncan and hammer both have the best polyp extension I've seen from them yet. The Duncan hasn't fully recovered but should soon. The hammer seems to have made a full recovery.

I was wondering the same thing. I have some mushrooms that got close to some zoas and murdered most of the heads. I tried to grab one with some tweezers, and I pierced the "skin" and it gave off a bunch of brown/black fluid, which I guess is really bad. Do I need to do a big water change?
