I have slowly brought my phosphates down using gfo and right now it is hovering around .03-.05. I am using very little compared to what the BRS calculator says I should be using but when I switch this batch out for new, isnt it going to drop me to .00?

How do I keep it where it is now when using a new batch of GFO?

Personally I don't run it all the time. Only when it hits .08 or so then I'll run for 24 hrs then take off line. I'll reduce feedings after.

I only use it when I have an issue. I seem to need it for a day every 6 months or so

I think this is the route ill likely take. Thank you for your reply.

I change once a month. I add 3 heaping tablespoons to the GAC I change once a month. This is for a 100 gal reef tank. When I change my GFO, I slow down the flow through the canister for a week so it doesn't suck out phosphate as quickly. After a week I turn the flow back up to normal.

Bottom line, use less and change more frequently.
