How do you make a diy slow drip for Kalk?

Any pet store will have a dripper, usually for adding water to a reptile tank. They are about 1-2 quart and come equipped with a drip tube valve and drip adjuster. $10.00 I use one from time to time adding vinegar.

OK . don't chase numbers .Or P H ! most important is AlK . Do you have a mark in you tank that shows how much water evaporates ? Just mix a gal of kalkwasser ant that is what I would use for you water top off . Just pour it in an area where you have your reactors so it mixes before it goes into the tank . It would help to add it when lights go out . I have been running KalKwasser on all my tanks and so far Params are staying stable .

So I can just pour it in (within reason)? I know to not chase Ph but mine got down to almost 7.4 because of co2 and I had to do something. The alk, ca and mg are all fine so far.

Handheld digital monitor and I have a Red Sea reagent test. I have calibrating solution so I'm pretty sure the monitor is right. Red Sea reads higher. I ordered new calibration fluid just to be sure.

Yes. I have used this style of dosing for 6 years. I now use a 2 gallon jug that sits on top of my sump where it is dripped into a place where there is churning water movement. Obviously you cannot gravity drip into a tank that is above the drip container!

If it were me, I'd be highly suspect of the pH reading. I wouldn't do anything until I was 100% certain that 7.4 is valid.
Out of curiosity, why do you think that CO2 has caused your pH to drop? (I'm not trying to be snarky, just trying learn)

I guess because I've ruled everything else out. Alk, mg and Ca stay where they need to be. I live in south Florida and the houses down here don't get a lot of outside air, so co2 tends to build up inside. I read Randy Holmes-Farley's articles about Ph in the reef chemistry forum and it was the only cause that made sense. Plus I recently took the lid off the tank and mounted it above the tank for more room in the sump area, so the water has more contact with the air than it used to. The Ph might not have gotten that low due to testing error but it's definitely been going down. So we'll see how the kalk does and keep watching the numbers.

O.k., Just an Idea . it`s happened to me and went crazy trying to find out why my PH dropped while Params. where fine !It was batteries I changed them and it went back to normal . Well off to mixing another 10 gal of kalkwasser . Have a Happy Easter !
