How do you price your frags?

I have about 40-50 Zoanthid frags to take to our Clubs BBQ, it's a Buy/Sell/Trade event.

What is a fair price on most Zoanthid frags? I was thinking $10-20 is that fair for the buyer and seller?

For 10-20 a piece I'd buy those up in a heartbeat. Nice stuff!

Those are really nice size frags. You could charge a little more. Or a lot more depending if any of them are named, rare, etc.

Allllllllllllllll depends on if it has a Marketing Name..... to where ppl think it's a rare collectible.

1) Go thru as many online vendors to see if your zoa has a Marketing Name:

2) See what vendors are charging

* wild un-named zoas about $2-$3 a polyp

* named zoa but is commonly avail among all vendors $3-$5 a polyp

* named zoa but is specific to a certain breeder, i.e. Jason Fox, WWC, Cornbred $10-$20 a polyp

* named zoa but is rare and has A LOT of buzz about it and ppl WANT to buy it but supply is a little scarce $20+ a polyp. (Ive seen tremendously HYPED zoas go for $50-$100 a polyp. Which is flat out ignorant)

For zoas with a lot of color! That are NOT green...
3-5 polyps - $20
5-10 polyps - $30
10-20 polyps - $40
20+ polyps - $60

Do not go the charge/polyp route - it’s a horrible trend started by a successful marketeer back in the day. It’s sad to see this carried through in hobbyist trading.

1. Split it up instead - some for $10, some for $20, some for $30 or whatever
2. Do tier pricing/package deals - buy 2 get $5 off or buy 3 and get 1 free.
3. Feel it out - if the hobbyists is willing to buy more, give him a deal he can’t refuse. If you know it might be a returning customer but doesn’t feel like spending a bunch - cut him a deal

I guarantee you will have returning customer and ultimately a great repution for actually going beyond the standard $/polyp -

I'm NOT saying to exactly charge per polyp... but more of a range.

I would consider
3-5 polyps small
5-10 polyps medium
10-20 polyps large
20+ colony

I would charge based on
* size
* color
* perceived HYPE. meaning I would charge more for Rastas or UtterChaos' than EagleEyes.

Ok...this way of selling coralsbis confusing to me as a coral newbie and although I have FO tanks it's frustrating. I really wish I had more than just one lfs local to me but I do not. Guess I will spreadsheet pricing of my lfs vs. online There are no groups or shows in my town. I liked Daniel's reply tho

Zoa frags are worth $5-$20 each. A frag has multiple polyps. Some buyers are confused about the cost of production (which is low), and some sellers take advantage of this.

Unless you’re doing 5 or less polyps don’t be that person that puts per polyp prices on a piece with 20+.... I’d happily pay $20 for most of what you posted and think I got a good deal. Nothing wrong with giving reefers a good deal. Karma for days

People gladly give me theirs for free and I think it’s a good practice. One time I had a monti that was just too big for my tank at the time. I cut it up and gave it away. Even a LFS gave me some frags in return. Was a good day for humanity.
