How do you raise alk safely?

It's been suggested that you should only raise alk by 1-1.5dkh a day. So how would you raise your alk if the tank is using that much or more per day?

Unfortunately I haven't been as strict as I want in keeping it up and stable so it's low at the moment (6.4dkh). I want to raise it up to 8.5 and keep it there.

I think 1 dkh is the safest to raise it daily as well. So with that said in you example your using 1.5 dkh a day you would add the proper amount to raise it 2.5 dkh as 1 dkh would be the raise and the 1.5 would be the consumption and do this until you hit your target number.

Yesterday test
Alk 7 dkh. Added 5 ml Alk manually

Today test
Alk 8 dkh added 5 ml Alk manually

Tomorrow test
Alk 8.5 dkh hit target level added 3 ml Alk manually

Next day
Alk 8.5 dkh added 3 ml Alk manually

Since I have no way to slowly spread the dosing throughout the day, can I split it into 2 doses? Say in the morning I'll dose the amount needed for consumption and enough for a raise at night?

Yes, I would even consider doing it in 3 doses. 1 in the morning, one when you get home from work, and one at night right before bed. The more spread out the better.
