How do you save money in this hobby?

Save money by buying used tanks and equipment. I only buy new when I have to , and I shop around for a good price. Don’t buy expensive brands . Use Facebook to find local growers and deals and trades. Give a little away frags ect. Karma comes around.
example . I bought a used 90 gallon aquarium for 100 , built a stand and canopy for about 150 , bought used metal halides for 120 rebulbed them for 100 , bought a used reef octopus skimmer for 120 . Jabao wave maker’s new for 130 . Jebao doseing pump 50 . And so on . Makes me wonder how someone can drop thousands on a aquarium. The stuff inside is $20 per peace max .
