I’ve got an orange monti cap that’s going to need trimming soon. What is the best way to trim short of just breaking off pieces? I want it to look natural. I’ve heard of using a hack saw but I’m not sure I can get to it all the parts of the monti? Any other ideas or suggestions?

Yes you can use bone cutters which is the easiest way. Trim a small part from the side or the area that needs trimming. If using bone cutters you can do it underwater so it’s not necessary to take the whole monti out of water.

I use both bone cutters and a hacksaw. A couple of my Montipora sp. corals have gotten so big and thick that the bone cutters just won't do the trick anymore
