Not really a question I guess just so confused right now. I bought a peppermint shrimp to help keep down growing population of aiptasia. Decided to house the shrimp in my sump for a couple of days before adding to the display. Well today when I went to move the shrimp its nowhere to be found! The sump is very clean, especially the third chamber where the shrimp was. Just a bag of bio balls and the returnpump, with the pumpintake pointed downwards so no space for the shrimp to get sucked in. If it died, there should atleast be some type of shell left or something, but it just vanished from the sump alltogether?

Is the third chamber the final chamber, with return pump? Shrimps can jump out. Have you looked around the sump area?

Have you looked on the pump at all? Or at night with a flashlight? Ive had a peppermint shrimp that has been in my return pump chamber since I started... I can never catch him... I can always see him at night with a flashlight... I just gave up and let him be... he hides under my pumps... peppermints are hard to see as well they are stealthy and are mostly translucent especially when in low lit areas in tanks... im sure hes in there

Yes the third chamber is my final one with the pump. I did look through the whole cabinet searching for it but no signs, a drying shrimp should smell a bit also if its anything like the storebought ones. :p
Will give it another go tonight with a red flashlight and hope that its like you say, and hes just a master at hiding. :)

Peppermints tend to be nocturnal. Not sure if you have a light in the sump but they can hide well. Mine will only come out during the day to eat. But when I shine a light on at night, they’re out searching for LPS to destroy...Perhaps try to lure it with some food at night, starting in the first chamber to try to bring it out.
