I was checking out the "Helping r2r auction thread" and clicked on the go fund me page where I notice BoomCoral donated twice. I thought how generous of them. So I decided to check out the website and was really blown away with the prices.
I mean how do they sell Frags at hobbiest prices??

I have never ordered from them or received anything in return for this post. (But don't let it stop u from tossing in a freebie when I place a order);)

I'm not sure how he sets up his pricing. But I've known Matt (owner of Boom Corals, it's actually just him) for a while now and visit him regurarly as he lives pretty close to me. Really stand up guy who will do whatever it takes to make sure you are happy with your order and does what he can to keep his prices affordable :)

This is so long of an answer, but the short starts with the people. Good people, who are not greedy, can do a great job, make a great living and still have room to help out other folks. This is true in all walks of life.

I have never met the guy or spoken to him (that I know of), but this is they way that it works almost universally.

So true.

The answer is boom corals isn’t trying to make a $250 profit off each frag sold. I was just looking at reefraftusa site and was shocked at their prices. The cheapest frag was $250.
It’s gotten to the point where vendors are just greedy.

$250 would buy a lot of nice frags from Boom!

Thanks for the kind words. Affordable frags is my niche. I put effort into finding deals on quality frags or colonies then pass the savings on. I feel frag prices are too high these days!
Frag prices are way too high for frags,,most of the industry is selling frags for full blown colony prices..
where are all the colonies gone?
theres a big bold line between being fair and being greedy with pricing..Its obvious
As a recent customer of yours,,Im a customer for life..
Hats off to you

I think some vendors are overpricing these corals they get based on pure color. I have visited various LFS, and when i ask for pricing, 90% of the time they have to look closely at the piece before pricing. Why cant they just place their mark up and let the coral sell? Same LFS that do that also have skeleton cemeteries of coral that perished because people wouldnt pay the crazy prices. There are also places like boom that sell make their profit and dont gouge..never bought from him but ive seen reviews. Maybe one day when my local reef shops here in coral california run out, ill muster up and place a boom coral order...[emoji6]
