although I haven't changed my water yet. I got a powerhead and some clear hose and going to use that to do my water changes.

I generally do 6 gallon changes every Sunday. So what I do is get my bucket of saltwater ready and up to temp. Then I turn off all my pumps, use a hose and siphon out 6 gallons. Change my filter sock, empty and clean my skimmer cup, and my filter sponge. Then use a pump to pump the new water into the system. And turn all pumps back on.

Once a month. Change my gfo and carbon first then flush both reactors into a bucket. Five gallon total. Use a power head to clean off my rocks and under them. Then siphon out another twenty gallons and replace with fresh. Still do the lift and pour method for new saltwater. Good exercise and helps rinse my rock off even more.
