In my final stages of prep before getting corals. Other than lighting, flow is the area often talked about but having a hard time getting my head around what, low, medium, high flow looks like.
I have my current return pump (IM Mighty Jet) turned up the whole way, which is 326 gallons per hour. My tank is an IM 14G peninsula, but realistically only holds about 10 gallons of water. So tank is turning over about 30 times per hour. Is this enough flow for softies and eventually some LPS? Probably going to get a sinularia leather and some zoa's from Jason Fox as my first corals. The leather states low flow, while the zoas medium flow. As a side note, most other sellers state flow for the sinularia higher to promote it's periodic shedding. Not sure what to think or if he just keeps his in low flow.
Was thinking about getting an AI Nero 3, but wasn't sure if it would be overkill. Would likely place it on the back wall on the opposite side of the return pump (to the right of the overflow).
YouTube video below is after I dumped a bunch of LRS Reef Frenzy in. Trying to get my Nitrates up so feeding heavily.
Appreciate any thoughts offered.
